A TASTE OF HAVET.

Havet Restaurant based in Tonbridge as well as Bromley is described to be the finest destination for Turkish Cuisine where the concept is both simple and revolutionary. I simply couldn't agree more.

I have definitely become a regular customer in my local Havet and visit the restaurant at least twice a month. Sometimes it's just the two of us and other times there can be the entire family. No matter how many of us or how busy they are the service is always impeccable and the quality/quantity of food is just incredible. You will never go home disappointed or hungry!

It's hard to pick just one favourite dish so I thought I'd share a few.

MEZE; A variety of hot and cold traditional Turkish dishes that can be ordered as individual starters but are best when shared. I definitely prefer to order a few and share them as Havet are extremely generous with their portions. They're usually around £4.95 per dish but Havet offer great discounts if you order more than one.. example "1 hot 1 cold for £8.95 or 2 hot 2 cold £17.95.

A few of my favourite Meze dishes would include the Hummus, served with delicious bread, I'm not sure how they make something so basic so delicious but it definitely works. One dish I am VERY fond of is the Peynir Borek, these are the tastiest filo pastry parcels filled with feta cheese, spinach and red pepper flakes, served with a mint yoghurt dip.  Another meze dish I just want to mention is the Helim Izgar which is everybody's favourite cheese, Halloumi cubes on skewers with grilled peppers! If you turned into your favourite food after eating it I would definitely be a walking slab of cheese!

MAIN COURSE; Havet have a massive selection when it comes to ordering main courses, you could probably dine here every night and have something different each time. The restaurants most popular main and one of my favourites would be the Havet Combo's. The combo is a signature meal cooked over an open charcoal pit and served on a homemade Turkish flatbread. Choose from a selection of prime meats that are marinated and cooked to perfection, served with a choice of different salads and rice, either of these can be substituted for chips. The meat I would usually go for is the Lamb Shish and Seftali with the as it comes salad and spicy rice.  For those of you who don't know, Seftali is homemade Turkish Cypriot sausage made from ground lamb, chopped onion and parsley and I can honestly say it's the best sausage I've ever eaten. If you haven't tried it yet I would 100% recommend it.

I visited the restaurant last week and rediscovered a main dish I'd forgotten about! Cheesy Lamb Bake, this is basically a says what it does on the tin dish. It's Lamb, cheese and a rich tomatoey sauce wrapped in thin dough and baked in a stone oven. The dish itself is so simple but the combination of flavours really works. This dish is a definite favourite and I can't believe I'd got so caught up in trying different combo's I forgot this existed!

DESERT;  Havet aren't shy when it comes to portion size so I'd be very surprised if you ordered desert. They do however offer a fairly decent dessert range. I have only ever eaten dessert in here once and even then I was too full up to finish it. Havet have a range of different Sundaes, ice cream and sorbets as well as some traditional Turkish treats such as Sütlac which is a rice pudding and Baklava.

As well as all the delicious foods Havet have to offer they also have brilliant bar staff who work incredibly hard to supply us with the most delicious drinks and cocktails! So even if you're not feeling hungry pop in for a cocktail or two!
