PRAGUE IN A NUTSHELL

Recently myself and one of my best friends booked a last minute trip to quite possibly one of the most beautiful cities I have ever stepped foot in. Prague, a cultural and historical hot spot within the Czech Republic.

The flight was about 1hr 40 followed by a 30 minute transfer into the city, our taxi driver was so friendly and he gave us a little insight into the history of Prague on our journey. We booked an apartment through booking.com, and were upgraded to a slight bigger apartment on arrival. It was based right in the centre of Prague, Old Town Square was right on our door step and everything else was within walking distance.

During our stay we visited Old Town Square, home to The Astronomical Clock. I think we payed around 100 CZK (£3.20ish) to go to the top of the clock and I'm not one for heights but I can honestly say the view when we reached the top was worth it.

We also took a walk along the historic Charles Bridge that crosses the River Vltava. I loved the vibe I got from this bridge, the views of the city, tourists, people singing and playing music, I don't know what it is but there's nothing more satisfying than seeing people enjoying themselves on holiday.

Rather than heading straight for St. Vitus Cathedral & Prague Castle we decided to save that for the next day so we took a trip to the John Lennon Memorial Wall. I mean, who goes to Prague and doesn't go there? The artwork and quotes on the wall were insane & my favourite from it went something like "the nights we won't remember with the people we won't forget"  We must've stood there admiring the wall for at least 30 minutes before heading back into old town for something to eat.

That evening we headed out into the city to check out the night life. We ended up in a place called Batalion Music Club & Comics Museum. Such a quirky little bar, great atmosphere and AMAZING cocktails, It was quiet but I think that's because we went mid week, I imagine it would be heaving on a Friday or Saturday night.

The following morning we woke up relatively early as Addie had booked for us to go on a river cruise. It was a guided tour and we found out so much more about the history of the city, the price also included complimentary coffee and cake!

Our next stop was the Petřín Lookout Tower, it is 63.5 metres tall and Prague's equivalent to the Eiffel Tower. Usually you would be able to take a cable car to the top of the hill but unfortunately we went out of season so we had no choice but to walk. We took a very slow stroll up the steep hill and by the time we had reached the top we were too tired to climb the 299 steps inside the tower so with a beer in one hand & our hotdogs in the other we admired the views from the ground.

As our time in Prague came to an end we sat in the window of our apartment, drink in hand, looking down at the street below discussing how much we'd enjoyed our holiday and how much we didn't want it to end. It really is the perfect mid week or weekend city break and I couldn't recommend it enough.
