Springmount Spirts
Springmount Spirits are a family business who's aim was to create a unique product at affordable prices based on their favourite spirits. Everything about Springmount has been created by Emma and Joe themselves. I'm talking the recipes, branding, packaging etc. They've even self taught the art of distillation. Impressive right?
Springmount only create 290 bottles of gin per batch and everyone single one of their spirits is bottled, corked and sealed by hand. The labels are even printed and signed at home in the family office! I don't know about you but I absolutely love it when products have that personal finish, be it in the form of the wax seal or in this case the signature of the creator hand signed on every bottle.

You're probably wondering what makes this product stand out from others! Well, I think with Springmount the thing that particularly sticks out is the fact that the gin contain NO sugar! Yep that's right zero sugar!! With most flavoured gins you would expect a bottle to have around 9.3g of sugar per 100g (on average 2.33g per single measure) which is actually crazy when you think about it!
Springmount Gin contains no sugar as they are a London Dry. Even the sweetest of the ones I was sent (Strawberry & Raspberry) has no sugar, it is intact infused with honey to enhance the taste of the sweetness of the berries.
Spring mount gin is also 60% water, but not just any old water. The water they use is one of the purest in the world that flows from Scottish Mountains and the springs lie within Cairngorms National Park.
I was sent the gift set containing 3 of the miniature flavoured gins! All their gins are 40% ABV. The current flavours are Lavender & Lemongrass , Mint & Lime and also Strawberry & Raspberry! All the gins are suitable for vegetarians with the first two mentioned also being vegan!
Now onto the best bit!! Tastings!
Let's start with my favourite, Mint & Lime. Upon opening the bottle you are hit with a waft of mint straight away but not so much so it over powers the lime. I often find that when trying a gin with two strong flavours it's hard to get the right balance of both. I'm pleased to report that even in taste both compliment each other well.
As a huge Mojito fan myself I love that this classic cocktail was the inspiration behind the Mint & Lime flavour. I've heard Emma is known for making a top class Mojito! I decided to recreate a Mojito using this gin instead of Rum and it was absolutely delicious.

Next we have the Raspberry & Strawberry. Pop the lid and you can instantly smell the summer berries, there's nothing quite like opening a new gin and having that "ooooh" moment. (if you know, you know) The Raspberry and Strawberry is still super sweet to taste which is incredible considering Springmount use no sugar.
The recommended serve for this is with a premium mediterranean tonic and a fresh strawberry to garnish, I forgot to buy strawbs so added mixed frozen berries beneath the ice before adding in the G&T and stirring. Not only does it look beautiful it tasted it too!
Last but not least let me introduce you to the Lavender & Lemongrass. Now whilst this was my least favourite of the trio don't let that put you off.
The smell instantly took me back to spending hours at the lavender fields with friends last summer, with a subtle hint of lemongrass you really do get the best of both smells. Taste wise I didn't love it as I feel like my taste buds need to mature a little more. I personally found the Lavender over powered the lemongrass.
The recommended serve is neat over ice or with a premium Mediterranean tonic. They also recommend trying this with Prosecco - which I'm definitely going to do as I feel like the fizz would compliment it more. Who knows maybe I'll even prefer it that way?

Springmount don't just stop at gin, they're also known for making a delicious Butterscotch Rum Liqueur. Their rum is based on an old family recipe and is classed as a microbatch because they only bottle 10 at a time!
The recommended perfect serve for the Butterscotch Rum is simply to shake and pour over ice to enjoy on the rocks!
